Photo Exercise - Portrait Photography

Recently, I was assigned to capture photos involving window light and a environmental portrait. For this assignment I asked my girlfriend, Emily Ammer, to be the star of the show.

For the window picture, I tried really focusing on composition, following the rule of thirds, and capture a nice horizontal picture. I thought I did a pretty good job splitting up Emily and the window from each other, while also making it visually appealing in a composition standpoint. For the environmental picture, I really tried messing with the lighting and color correction for the editing portion while also using the rule of thirds again to capture Emily in the center. I thought that the color correction was done pretty well, and I also enjoyed messing with it while doing this picture. I learned most about color correction for this exercise and its importance. At first I didn't think too much about how the color would come out, but after messing with the curve layers and such I came to the realization that with just a bit of color correction, it can simply just make an image look a whole lot better.
